Call for Directors
and Producers
Playhouse 395 is
calling for applications for
directors, producers and other key
production staff for the 2010/2011
season. To facilitate the process,
general inquiries from creative,
committed theatre enthusiasts are
encouraged. Musicals have been
selected using a number of criteria
including: shows that inspire
audiences; shows that generate
enthusiasm and commitment from
potential cast members and
production staff; and shows that
reflect a balance of themes.
Summer children’s
workshops have proven a big hit
with local area families. They
attract approximately 30 children
per session (two sessions each
summer, with the first typically
starting mid-June) and participants
range from 6 through 12 years of
age. Directors and producers are
paid a generous stipend for their
involvement. The production chosen
for this summer’s workshop is
Disney’s newly-released
Aladdin Kids.
The company’s fall
youth productions typically cast
an average of 30 students of middle
and high school ages. Past
productions have included: “Guys and
Dolls,” “Bugsy Malone,” “Willy Wonka,”
and “Mulan.” The following are under
consideration for the 2010 youth
production, and are available from
the licensing company, Musical
Theatre

The following represent a few
additional musicals under
consideration:
With a breathtaking
production of “The Sound of Music”
in 2006, Playhouse 395 has enjoyed
great success with its spring
productions. What followed was a
host of hit theatre experiences that
included “Annie” (2007), “The Music
Man” (2008) and “Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat”
(2009). The classic and heart
rendering tale of “South Pacific” is
currently in rehearsal. All of
Playhouse 395’s spring musicals are
enriched by the accompaniment a full
orchestra.
The company
encourages both experienced and new
directors and producers to inquire
about participating as a lead member
of a production team. Please
consider involving yourself in one
of the more rewarding experiences of
a lifetime and become a part of the
Playhouse 395 theatre.
