A Community Theatre Youth Musical Production Coming November 2018 AUDITION FORM AND CONTRACT
Please read and complete the form below and return it on or before Audition day, Saturday, August 25, 2018. Plan on to check in 10 - 15 minutes prior to your audition time slot.
Your Name (please print)______________________________________________________
As many of us know, producing musical theatre is a time consuming endeavor. Many volunteers and cast members will be asked to give enormous amounts of time. Please carefully evaluate the projected number of rehearsal days necessary (essentially 2.25 months of weekday—Monday through Fridays—evenings and a few Saturdays) and consider whether or not your schedule (and family) will accommodate this level of commitment. Further, those cast in the production will need to spend time outside the rehearsal preparing for the role, another consideration you will want to make.
All cast members will be charged a non-refundable $60 production fee. The production fee does not cover any copies you may purchase of professional headshot photography, nor does it cover all costume costs, or shoes. A very limited number of scholarships will be made available. For information about the scholarship program, please call 760-920-9100. Playhouse 395 will not exclude anyone from participation due to financial limitations. In other words, do not let finances keep you from auditioning! The fee will cover your Saturday dinner during performances.
Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals typically fall between the hours of 4:00 PM. and 7:00 PM, Monday thru Friday, but can run later during the final 2 weeks before performance dates. We will be providing a homework time from 3:30 - 4 PM prior to rehearsals and will be asking for parent volunteers to help monitor this area. We will attempt to free up as many of the Friday and Saturday rehearsals as possible. Fridays are scheduled primarily for focused work on specific principal character parts and solos. Some Saturday rehearsals will also be required for specific purposes. Each week the rehearsal schedule will be posted on the internet with the goals and specific scenes and songs we will focus on. Please check that schedule and be present when we are working on the scenes in which you are involved. Familiarize yourself with which scenes you are involved.
Please Note: For parents who have a 10 year old/ 5th grader auditioning: If your child is cast, we are requiring that every parent of a 10 year old/5th grader be present for at least one full rehearsal every week.
Rehearsal and Performances:
These are listed in the attachment. Please make note of the dates, particularly considering holidays. Theater is a team sport, and absence is problematic for everyone.
Mandatory Clean Up Dates
We will be assigning specific clean up areas to each cast member for cleanup prior to and after the shows and during rehearsals. We will also accept volunteers for assistance as well. We need to keep the auditorium clean as part of our agreement with the high school. We all need to pitch in to clean up the high school halls, bathrooms, and auditorium every time we use the theater Please see list in the attachment above for specific dates.
Behavior
Students involved with Playhouse are representatives not only of themselves, but also of the Playhouse family. Playhouse strives to maintain an excellent reputation within the community. Part of that reputation is the behavior of our cast members when at rehearsals and performances. Because of this it is important to us that students be respectful of each other, of volunteers, and the facility at all times. For this reason we have some specific expectations of our cast members. The school has asked us not to run and play in the hallways and not to eat or drink (with the exception of water) in the auditorium. To maintain our safe harbor status, Playhouse also requires there be no verbally abusive language, and no physically abusive behavior. We expect that even in times of conflict and stress our staff and cast will do their best to work things out respectfully and our directors and producers are available and willing to assist in that process. We ask that our volunteers and cast members abide by this standard.
Your signature below indicates that you have read the above information and understand the nature of this commitment. A parent must sign below to authorize permission to audition.
